Poll Everywhere (and equivalent programs like iClicker and BlackboardCollaborate) allow you to poll your students during class. It’s been shown to increase in-class student participation and critical thinking and to turn passive learning into active learning. My slide deck includes 4 to 5 exercises for every major American government topic (e.g., federalism, the presidency, political parties). Each poll slide is accompanied by slides (there are 423 slides in total) that explain the topic being polled. The slides are compatible for use with virtually any American gov text and can be used without permission or fee. If you would like a tutorial on using student polling in the classroom, please visit my website linked below the PowerPoint slides.
