Students roleplay as members of the National Security Council, collaboratively developing and debating complex foreign policy strategies to advise the president during an international crisis. Through multiple rounds, they create plans involving diplomacy, military action, media communication, and economic measures, applying key course concepts like bilateralism and multilateralism. The exercise deepens students’ understanding of the roles of the NSC, the balance of powers in U.S. foreign policy, and the challenges of decision-making under uncertainty.
