In this activity, students analyze the ideological alignment between elected officials and their political parties by researching voting records and policy positions on Project Vote Smart. Working individually and in groups, students assess whether their assigned official acts as a strong, moderate, or weak partisan based on issue consistency across economic and social policies. This exercise deepens students’ understanding of political ideology, party loyalty, and representative accountability while promoting critical thinking and civic engagement.
