U.S. Civil Liberties Vs. Civil Rights

This exercise uses the landmark Supreme Court case West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette (1943) to help students distinguish between civil liberties and civil rights by analyzing competing judicial opinions. Students evaluate whether compulsory flag pledges violate free speech (civil liberties) or serve national unity (civil rights), fostering critical thinking about constitutional protections.
