This course is a redesign of a 100/200 level State and Local Government course, using all OER resources. The course contains 12 unit modules, lecture notes, suggested assignments (quizzes, short essay topics, and discussions), and links to various outside resources. The course is designed as a multi-state comparative approach; the author has included suggestions as to how it could be adapted to single-state approaches.
The course utilizes parts of Simon, Steel, and Lovrich’s OER textbook (https://open.oregonstate.education/government/), which is licensed as CC-BY-NC-SA, as the primary text. This course was developed independently of Simon, Steel, and Lovrich, and there is no implied endorsement or approval of the materials presented in this course by the original text authors.
The course was developed in D2L-Brightspace, so the full version is in that format. Common Cartridge and Thin Common Cartridge packages are also available; faculty intending to use this course in non-Brightspace LMS/CMS are advised to contact their institutional IT department for assistance in importing the course.
