This resource has been created as a companion to the Ballotpedia Student Researcher Program. It offers students in an online asynchronous course the opportunity for civic engagement while promoting authentic learning in the advent of generative AI. While geared towards instructors who teach online asynchronous sections of introductory American government, it can be easily adapted to other political science courses, as well as for courses in different modalities. This resource contains three assignment pages, two discussions, and one survey, that together allow instructors to integrate the Ballotpedia Student Researcher Program into a multi-part project that can be assigned across an entire semester.

This resource has been created in Canvas and is accessible using the links below. Alternatively, instructors can visit the Canvas Commons and search for “Ballotpedia Student Research Program”. For instructors at institutions that do not use Canvas, you can instead import the .imscc package (a .zip file) using the links below. Please note that some formatting and assignment settings may not be fully preserved when the .imscc package is imported into a non-Canvas LMS.
