A syllabus for a 200-level political science course that will focus on human rights advocacy on behalf of scholars detained for their academic work and political beliefs in three countries in the Middle East. In addition to learning about and advocating for a particular case of a scholar imprisoned for his or her political views, students will study theories and methods for examining transnational advocacy networks and their roles in shaping international politics, and learn about the contemporary political conditions in Egypt, Bahrain, and Iran.
