This upper-level American politics public opinion course requires students to conduct civically-engaged research. Faculty and students collaborated with nonprofit leaders from various organizations to design a survey about nonprofit employee compensation and those employees’ attitudes toward their jobs. In this course, students will reflect on the origins of public opinion and the weight we give to certain methods of eliciting that opinion as they conduct their own research. Teaching materials include the course syllabus, reflection assignment, and research project prompt.
Additionally, I presented the process and background to designing this course during a Fall 2024 workshop organized by the National Capital Area Political Science Association and the American Political Science Association. The presentation slides are also added.
